Happy New Year! We have been through it all this past year and I am excited to turn over a new leaf as we start the new year off. I have been thinking a lot about my personal goals and how I want to improve myself this year, but along with that, I have been thinking about the ways our nation can change. Our country is at such a division right now, but it seems that no one is trying to fix it.
Today is January 6th, 2021 and we once again are seeing two Americas. Trump supporters stormed the Capital. They were forceful and armed, yet there were no tear-gassing, police violence, or anything nearly as violent that the BLM movement endured. These people stole things and went on the illegal property, yet they face no charges.* This is the absolute definition of white privilege and it personally makes me feel sick to my stomach. Trump encouraged this type of behavior and January 20th could not come sooner. He is a clown and has never been fit for the job. He has split the US into two Americas that we see today. It is one thing to protest for your lives, but throwing a big tantrum just because your president lost an election is inexcusable.
Now lets talk more about this division that we are experiencing. Besides the obvious political divisions, it is very hard to find people that respect other people’s opinions on certain subjects. ALM vs. BLM, pro-life people arguing against pro-choice, and the list goes on. There is hatred from groups and that is no way to unify us.
So the following are my goals for our nation this year.
- I hope there is a peaceful transition for Biden’s presidency.
- I hope Biden brings the social justice that is deserved.
- I hope Biden does something about climate change.
- I hope COVID vaccines are handed out efficiently.
- I hope we all become a nation again.
Trump, you wanted to build the wall. Guess you didn’t think you would build it between Americans.
